Relaunch of the VisioBraille brand within the LUCAS Group

dated 2025/07/23

VisioBraille GmbH filed for insolvency on March 24, 2025, and insolvency proceedings were opened on June 1, 2025. The background and trigger for this was the insolvency of an important supplier: METEC AG filed for insolvency on December 1, 2024, and ceased operations shortly thereafter.

We are pleased to announce, that we, LUCAS components GmbH, will continue production of the CCTV reading devices VisioBook, VisioDesk, and Visio24 screen readers, as well as the VarioUltra20 and VarioUltra40 Braille displays. This was made possible by the takeover from the insolvency administrator of VisioBraille GmbH.

We will also continue to offer full service for all former Baum and VisioBraille products (except Vario4) in the future – just as you were accustomed to from VisioBraille GmbH.

Unfortunately, VisioBraille GmbH is no longer in operation – however, we will continue to present the VisioBraille brand as part of LUCAS components GmbH in the future. We would like to expressly point out that LUCAS components GmbH is not the legal successor to VisioBraille GmbH.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Impact on the Vario4 40, Vario4 64, Vario4 80, and VarioPro2 80 product lines.

dated 2025/07/23

Due to Metec AG filing for insolvency on December 1, 2024, the production of Metec Braille elements was permanently discontinued shortly thereafter. As a result, VisioBraille GmbH has not been able to purchase Braille elements from Metec AG since March 1, 2025.

With regard to the Vario4 40, Vario4 64, Vario4 80, and VarioPro2 80 product lines (and those only), we regret to inform you that neither existing orders placed with VisioBraille GmbH nor future orders placed with LUCAS components GmbH can be fulfilled. Unfortunately, LUCAS components GmbH is also unable to provide service for these product lines.
