Things that are new or different in VarioUltra version 1.42 compared to version 1.40:

- bugfix: If the mode is changed from the braille display mode to the notetaker mode during the Suspend, then the device wakes up in the corresponding mode correctly now.
-	Inplementation of last Liblouis 3.2 components for UEB and other language converters.
-	The Libouis converter of the corresponding country language are predefined in the software packages of different countries. Availabel in word processor menu tools > grade 2 > settings. Please note that translation or backtranslation errors belong to the Liblouis converter programming.
-	Bugfix in UEB setting: Previously, writing certain punctuation (question mark, colon, semicolon etc) was incorrectly translated as lower word signs. This is fixed.
-	Reducing power consumption ffrom 300A to 100A when the device is switched off completely, because of using the 32kHz oszillator for RTC (Real Time Clock).
- Improvement when using MTP connection. VarioUltra no longer goes to suspend while data transfer.
-	Bugfix: In Braille display mode again it is possible to switch off bluetooth with S2+B2.
-	Bugfix: If in menu Settings > Braille display Mode the list paired devices has no entry, the button key simulation properties is not shown.
-	Bugfix: Changed user settings in menu Settings > Display settings > Hotkeys are loaded after a system restart.
-	Default value for key debounce time needs to be changed from 50 ms to 15 ms. Otherwise characters could get lost when typing in word processor.
-	Further U2H tables of different languages for the text transfer via HID key simulation in Braille display mode.
- Fixing the bug, that the US-RTF-table has been used for coding-conversions in all Liblouis-translators.
-	Revised English Manual file

-----------

Things that are new or different in VarioUltra version 1.4 compared to version 1.33:

1. UEB
a. This feature is available in Braille Notetaker mode.
b. Text output in UEB for system presentation and reading of documents
c. Settings available in menu Settings > Braille > Default Braille Codes, and in Word Processor command menu Tools > Grade 2 > Settings.
d. US English Contracted Braille still available for use.
e. Known problems: some punctuation -- ? and ! for example are converted incorrectly while typing UEB in to an RTF document.

2. Wake up an iOS or Android smartphone via key stroke on VarioUltra.
a. This feature is available in Braille Display mode.
b. The smartphone must be paired, assigned to a Bluetooth channel, in stand by mode, and in range. To wake up the smartphone, select the appropriate Bluetooth channel on VarioUltra (S2 + B4 for channel 1, for example), and then wait about 10 second.
c. Important: This new feature requires that the Bluetooth pairing is initialized by the other smartphone device, and not by VarioUltra.

d. If pairing was initialized by VarioUltra in the past, it will be necessary to remove the pairing, and pair again.
3. HID Key Simulation for transferring clipboard contents to iOS or Android smartphone. Faster than the Braille Key Simulation introduced with version 1.33, HID Key Simulation requires that both the VarioUltra and the smartphone be configured for Computer Braille.

4. Bluetooth:
a. When you change the device Bluetooth name in menu Settings > Bluetooth, the option "Show Bluetooth information", is now available. This individual device name is saved in the registry, but now also saved as user specific setting in file \user\bt.xml and remains even after a new OS installation.
b. New setting and function to start Bluetooth automatically in menu Settings > Braille Display Mode, check box "Enable Bluetooth automatically".
                                                               i. If selected, Bluetooth is switched on automatically when you switch from note taker mode to braille display mode, or when VarioUltra was off and you start in braille display mode. Bluetooth is now switched on automatically after wake up from suspend, when it had been active before suspend.
c. The Bluetooth pairing must be initialized by the external device, when you want to use the new feature of waking up the external device by a key stroke on VarioUltra, or the HID key simulation to transfer text from the clipboard to the connected external device.
d. During the pairing process when initiating from an external device, you are prompted by an edit box on VarioUltra to enter the PIN. With v1.4, the default pin "1111" is entered automatically into the edit box. All you need to do is press B9 to confirm.
e. In case you had entered a different PIN on the external device or if the Bluetooth application of the external device had generated a different PIN, you must enter and confirm this PIN in the edit box on VarioUltra.
f. If you have set the Braille input and output to contracted mode, the predefined PIN "1111" is shown correctly in contracted braille. Entering a different PIN then must be done also in contracted braille.

5. Braille and HID Key Simulation: now you can select different settings for braille and HID key simulation and assign them each to a paired iOS or Android device. This setting is automatically used, when you switch to the assigned Bluetooth channel of the connected device. Therefore open menu Settings > Braille Display Mode, option Key Simulation. Here a list of "paired devices" shows the name of the paired device followed by the assigned Bluetooth channel, BT4, BT5, etc.

6. With the options in "key simulation properties" you can assign the following settings:
a. Delay of braille simulation (in ms) 30 100 (Default: 50 milliseconds)
b. HID table (U2H table contains specific language and Apple or Android keyboard layout information)
c. HID key delay (in ms) 30 100 (Default: 60 milliseconds)

7. Word processor:
a. UEB converter, based on LibLouis. Now for English you can select between USA Uncontracted, USA contracted 2, UEB grade 2, and grade 1.
b. Bug fix: go to previous sentence now works. Command B3B9.
c. Bug fix: In BRF documents paragraphs are no longer handled like lines.
d. Bug fix: in BRF documents the position information is correct (Menu tools > position in text).
e. Microsoft PowerPoint Show files PPS and PPSX; can be opened like PPT and PPTX files to get the text content of the file.

8. PDF-Viewer:
a. There is a setting in command menu Tools > Settings to hide or show line feed, tabulator and other formatting characters.
b. A new reading order option "top down" in command menu Tools > Settings.

9. IO profiles:
a. Saving different individual input and output settings is simplified.
b. In menu Settings > IO Profiles, you only have options to save one or up to 8 profiles with an individual name or to delete or rename existing profiles.
c. The settings which are saved as profile are done in the appropriate dialogs in menu Settings > Braille > Default Braille Codes, Settings > Braille > Braille tables, and in word processor command menu Tools > Grade 2 > Settings. This means you can create your preferred settings, and then simply go to menu Settings > IO profiles and save the current setting as your individual profile.
d. The way of loading profiles via shortcut S1 + B1 to B8 has not changed.
e. New: your contracted braille settings are now also saved.
f. New: predefined profile for changing between UEB grade 2 and old USA grade 2 setting.
g. Important: to use this profiles select menu Settings > System > Reset device, check "reset user to defaults". Then S1+B1 enables old USA grade 2. S1+B2 enables UEB grade 2.

10. Miscellaneous:
a. Bug fix: settings of one hand mode are saved correctly.
b. The file UpdateLog.txt no longer is saved in folder Temp\Update, but in folder VarioUltra\User.
c. The file UpdateLog.txt is no longer deleted after an software update. It holds the history of the update and installation processes. With the option "remove temporary files and log files" in menu Settings > System > Disk cleanup" the file is deleted.
